Admissions
Process
The
Bridges Admissions Committee selects
interns
based on a rigorous application and interview process. Philadelphia
public high school juniors submit their applications directly
to
Bridges or to their Philadelphia
Academies coordinator by Feburary 1. The
Academies
coordinators forward all applications they receive to Bridges.
The Bridges Admissions Committee reads all applications and
from
that pool chooses students for interviews. After the
interviews,
the Admissions Committee decides which candidates will be invited to
write an essay. The committee reads the essays and chooses
interns for the 12-month
program year that begins
in June. Those selected must call
to confirm their
acceptance by a specified
date, and they are required to attend a meeting with the other new
interns and their parents/guardians.
Admissions Criteria
Bridges
seeks applicants who:
- Want to work in a full-time career path position
in a professional environment after high school graduation.
- Want to participate in an internship program in the summer
before, and after school during, the twelfth grade.
- Have a strong high school attendance record, with few
latenesses.
- Want to develop the skills required to succeed and progress
in a professional workplace.
- Want to work hard to achieve and to overcome obstacles to
success.

selected for Bridges must call to
